Protestant Religious Education Coordinator Job Opening in Minot, North dakota - SCOPE OF WORK:
Non-Personal service for Protestant Religious Education Coordinator (REC) at Minot AFB, ND. Coordinator shall provide quality religious education starting with nursery school continuing through preschool onto grade 12. Coordinator shall assist the Deputy Wing Chaplain with administrative duties and Adult Religious Education to meet the mission and objectives of the Protestant Chapel Programs as described in the Air Force Policy Directives (AFPD) and Air Force Instructions (AFI?s). The Coordinator is primarily responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating the Protestant (RE) program for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and Adult Bible study opportunities on Sunday, ?Feed Your Faith Family Night? and small group/cell group Bible studies in the housing area and off base communities as needed. The Coordinator is also responsible for planning an annual Vacation Bible School, and supervising the children?s church program for the Protestant Community. When designated by the Wing Chaplain, the Coordinator assists the Deputy Wing Chaplain with the planning, organizing, and coordination of Protestant lay activities. Areas of assistance may include but not be limited to special ecumenical and Protestant community activities, parish registration and record keeping, liturgical ministry schedules and other Protestant Community related activities approved through the Wing Chaplain.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The Coordinator must provide either previous experience as a Protestant Religious Education Coordinator (REC) or satisfactory demonstration of an ability to fulfill the duties listed in this Performance Work Statement (JOB DESCRIPTION). The Coordinator must have a broad knowledge of Protestant teachings with a broad background of Protestant religious education, teachings, beliefs and practices. It is preferred that Coordinator personnel belong to the Protestant Faith. Coordinator personnel must be able to work in a religiously pluralistic environment and have a willingness to work with people of diverse faith expressions. Coordinator personnel must have basic computer skills to include the use of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs; be able to clearly communicate in English and conduct administrative requirements in verbal and written clarity as necessary. Coordinator personnel must preserve any confidential issues seen or heard within the Chapel staff or facilities, and be able to have a professional working relationship with Chapel staff, the Protestant community, and other personnel to achieve duties. The Coordinator must have a strong knowledge, appreciation for, and theological grasp of the meaning of the Protestant REC, religious education, Pastoral Advisory Council (PAC). He/she must be able to display moral and upright behavior and proper standards of conduct by chapel employees and leaders, the role of these persons in cooperating with the Senior Protestant Chaplain in the seeking of his personal and communal holiness in the image of Jesus Christ.
COORDINATOR SPECIFIC TASKS:
Oversee small groups/cell groups established in the homes of the Protestant Chapel community both on base and surrounding areas or a weekly organized Sunday School program at an agreed upon time as best meets the needs of the Protestant chapel community.
Coordinate all Protestant RE committee meetings (to include monthly cell group facilitator support meetings), Protestant Advisory Council meetings, and chapel staff meetings as required by the Wing chaplain and/or the Deputy Wing Chaplain. Attend staff meetings and Pastoral Council meetings as required and directed by Wing Chaplain.
Track monthly attendance records for all RE programs including weekly small groups/cell groups and report the numbers to the accounting technician and record the data.
Submit all facility, funds, and material requests to the Protestant RE chaplain for coordination and processing. Maintain the Protestant RE supply cabinets.
Order, inventory, and stock all Protestant RE materials after receiving them from the accounting technician.
Provide resource support for RE teachers, small group facilitators or outreach volunteers.
Maintain background checks through the Security Forces Squadron on all volunteers who have direct contact with children under the age of 18.
Recruit, train and recognize teachers, facilitators and lay volunteers. Provide regular training opportunities for teachers, facilitators, and staff.
Plan and coordinate Protestant RE programs each week for nursery age children through adult.
Publicize Protestant RE events/programs and all programs referred to in this JOB DESCRIPTION.
Coordinate, plan and conduct the monthly chapel movie night.
Coordinate, plan and conduct annual chapel wide Vacation Bible School to include child care for volunteers.
Coordinate, plan and conduct with the Protestant REC the annual Teacher?s Appreciation program.
Coordinate, plan and conduct the annual alternative to Halloween festival, and an annual Children?s Christmas program.
Coordinate with the Deputy Wing Chaplain or his/her designated representative on facility, funds and curriculum requests.
Furnish an annual budget for curriculum, supplies and materials, and an annual calendar each March to the Deputy Wing Chaplain.
Submit a fund request to order curriculum and supplies to the Protestant RE Chaplain a minimum of seven (7) duty days prior to requirement. The request must include vendor name, address and telephone number, title, order number, quantity, and cost of items to include postage.
Secure all facilities used, to include all doors and windows, following the conclusion of all Protestant RE activities that take place in the Youth Center, chapel facilities when chapel personnel are not present and any base facility that is used for Protestant RE purposes.
Perform other related functions as negotiated with the Wing Chaplain, through the Deputy Wing Chaplain and the Protestant RE Chaplain.
Be present at the (RE) facility when classes are in session, to provide for the administrative needs of students, teachers and parents.
Attend at least one (1) professional development conference/workshop yearly (either Air Force or civilian) at the Air Force?s Expense; contingent upon availability of funds.
Set and publish office hours while maintaining a 20 hour work week to include any meetings, training, office hours, and programming where attendance is necessary to complete the duties in this JOB DESCRIPTION. The set and published office hours will be approved by the Wing Chaplain.
Satisfactorily demonstrate ability to fulfill duties as listed in the JOB DESCRIPTION, and provide a resume at time of oral presentation.
SECONDARY SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Wing Chaplain may designate that the coordinator assist the Deputy Wing Chaplain with the following tasks:
The flow of information to Protestant parishioners through the weekly bulletin, bulletin boards, monthly newsletter and special mailings.
The maintenance of census information in an easily accessible manner.
Opportunities for parishioners to give feedback on parish procedures and decisions.
Develop agenda items in coordination with the Deputy Wing Chaplain for the Parish Council.
Completion of requests for reserving Chapel facilities on required Chapel facility request forms IAW Chapel Operating Instructions
