L&I Accounting Services Supervisor Job Opening in Tumwater, Washington - We are seeking experienced accounting professionals looking to take their career to the next level. The Financial Services Program within the Administrative Services Division is comprised of four units (Accounting Services, Accounts Payable, Revenue Accounting, and Financial Reporting) who interact with one another on a regular basis to maintain the financial integrity of our agency. The focus of this position will be to manage the Electronic Benefit Payment Services (EBPS) and Capital Asset Management Section (CAMS) areas within the Accounting Services Unit. In addition, you will have the additional role of assisting the Accounting Services Manager with fiscal closing, federal grant accounting, and cash management duties. As the Accounting Services Supervisor here at L&I, you will be establishing a new look to our Accounting Services Unit by managing the Capital Asset Management Section and the Electronic Benefit Payment Services areas. Not only will you be looked to as the agency expert but you will be managing the agency's centralized asset management program and electronic payment preferences for the State Workers' Compensation and Crime Victim Program.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to fully implement our electronic payment preference and external user interface for customers eagerly waiting for this improvement. We also need someone that will engage with CAMS and EBPS staff on a frequent basis to gain a full understanding of what their assigned duties are, the roles they play in the section, and what things they need from you as their supervisor to be successful.

Some of What You Will Do
Ensures the section operates effectively and the staff accomplish all tasks accurately and timely to meet accounting and reporting requirements, including customer expectations.
Ensure payment preference processing and electronic payment interface with OST occurs daily.
Ensure EFT returns are properly handled and recorded in accordance with GAAP, OST, OFM, and banking requirements.
Performs regular review and monitors the processes for enrolling, transferring, and disposing of agency owned and leased assets.
Performs regular review and approval of journal vouchers, reconciliations, and electronic work files prepared by Accounting Services Unit staff.
Provide accounting guidance to technical and non-technical staff.
Ensure that L&I fiscal and program staff follow accounting policies, procedures and practices that adhere to GAAP, OFM regulations and agency policies and procedures.
Prepare reconciliations, support schedules and journal vouchers for entry into AFRS, and respond to internal and external requests for financial information.
Assist with fiscal year end planning, training and coordinating of closing activities.
Who Should Apply Experienced accounting professionals who have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Auditing, or Budgeting AND four (4) years of relevant professional experience. AND a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience to include: establishing and communicating clear expectations, holding staff accountable, providing performance feedback in an ongoing manner, documenting feedback both written and verbal, and building a culture of trust and employee engagement. What we are looking for
Working knowledge of Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS), Enterprise Reporting System, Web Intelligence and the AFRS Toolbox.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and State Administrative Accounting Manual (SAAM).
Strong experience using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint to create, modify, print and format documents for formal and informal work papers, schedules and presentations.
Be comfortable leading projects, process improvements, and system implementations using lean tools and project management skills with the expectation that you are ultimately responsible to deliver on time and with the desired outcome.
Be comfortable engaging with staff regularly to establish and build trust. Staff should feel that you care for them and that you are vested in helping them to achieve operational success and that they can come to you for direction and guidance.
Be comfortable receiving and giving constructive feedback and to use it as a learning and growth opportunity.
