Junior to Mid-level Software Developer Job Opening in Rochester, New york - At Measures for Justice (MFJ) our mission is to use data to measure and understand county-level criminal justice system performance in America. We collect, clean, code, and analyze county-level data to provide consistent, comparable, reliable, and objective performance measures across the whole criminal justice system, from arrest to post-conviction, on a county-by-county basis.
Measures for Justice seeks a Junior to Mid-level Software Developer who will be instrumental in helping us collect and transform raw data files into datasets that the researchers can ingest and analyze. You will be be developing reusable libraries in Java to extract data from various data sources in CSV, XML, PDF, DOC formats using libraries such as Apache PDFBox and Apache POI.
About you?
You have a strong desire to use your technical skills to help real people and make measurable and lasting changes to the U.S. criminal justice system.
You?re continually improving your craft and are eager to work with the latest technologies.
You have worked with Java and are comfortable with the JVM ecosystem.
You have good writing and communication skills and can build reusable tools for other developers.
Experience Required:
One or more years of professional Java development experience.
BS in Computer Science or related discipline.
