Clinical NLP Specialist Job Opening in Marlborough, Massachusetts - Our Client is a leading provider of text mining solutions with a current emphasis on high value healthcare, biomedical and life science applications. Thanks to our world-class team, and innovative use of natural language processing (NLP) based technology, our software has been adopted by many of the world?s leading healthcare organizations to extract information from medical records in order to predict risk and improve treatments.
We are now looking for a clinical NLP specialist for our Research and Resource Development Team based in Marlborough, MA. Key tasks and responsibilities
Develop NLP-based solutions that integrate with EHR data, including
developing and managing suites of NLP text mining rules
transforming, adapting and evaluating domain specific terminologies * manipulating document structures and pre-processing data
Work closely with the healthcare team to satisfy customer requirements
Contribute to consulting projects to develop specific applications
Create state-of-the-art extraction of healthcare information.
This may include opportunities to author papers for submission to scientific journals.
You will be working on healthcare applications, and knowledge of the Healthcare industry or knowledge of text mining clinical data is essential.
You will have strong communication skills and be able to work with other staff to get across ideas and issues and to respond to requirements.
You must also enjoy working in a fast-moving start-up environment, which requires multi-tasking, flexibility and the ability to work in a small, highly motivated team. Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Strong programming skills ? familiarity with Python, Java or Perl is essential
Experience of extracting information from clinical data
Experience working with domain ontologies such as ICD9 & 10, MeSH, MedDRA, RxNorm, SNOMED CT
Deep knowledge of NLP text mining * Good project management skills and experience
Attention to detail
A pro-active attitude and ability to work in a team
Medical, medical informatics, computational linguistics or similar degree, preferably to postgraduate level
Flexibility to travel approximately 20% of the time. This role will work extensively with the UK development team, requiring time in Cambridge UK and potentially visiting client sites.
