Public Relations and Development Director Job Opening in Lexington, Virginia - (Salary commensurate w/experience; excellent fringe benefit package)
The Public Relations and Development Director is responsible for planning, development, and implementation of all external and internal public relation activities and communication. The position is responsible for development and implementation of all brochures for all RACS programs. The position directs and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels other functions of the organization as it relates to public relations and communications to internal and external stakeholders. The position works in support of the LT and Board of Directors to identify and implement opportunities for fundraising. The position reports to the Executive Director and serves as a member of the Leadership Team. The position participates with the Board of Directors.
Major Duties:
Participates with the RACS Board of Directors, Executive Director, Leadership Team and other management staff in charting the direction of the organization assuring its accountability to all constituencies and assuring its effective operations. Develops, implements and regularly reviews a comprehensive organizational public relations and development plan that enhances RACS image and position both internally and within the local behavioral healthcare providers and referring agencies, as well as the general public.
Responsible for all organizational direction, production, and distribution of all organizational materials. Assures the organizations image and position is consistent and clearly communicated throughout the organization and to external stakeholders.
Build and maintain relationships with referral sources. The position will be responsible for communication of the agencies mission and services to referral sources, be knowledgeable of the state of the relationship with internal staff with referral sources. The position will be one of several points of contacts at RACS for referral sources who are having difficulty in making referrals to the agency and will collaborate with particular program Directors, Managers and staff to address the sources of concern of the referral source.
Coordinates and take the lead in contacts with the media. Ensures regular contact with specific local media outlets and assures an appropriate response to media requests. Acts as the organizations representative with the media on behalf of the Executive Director. Coordinates the appearances of RACS print, electronic materials, and all on line media.
Participates as a member of the RACS Leadership Team. Develops and maintains the public relations component of the RACS strategic plan. Provides PR consultation and guidance to the Executive Director, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors as requested. Works collaboratively with other Directors. Fosters facility-wide attitude supportive of the vision of the agency; supports executive decisions; and demonstrates flexibility to adapt to change.
Works with the Executive Director, and Development Committee of the Board of Directors to support and coordinate identified fundraising activities of the Board of Directors.
Responsible for developing an annual budget in consultation with the Executive Director and CFO. Identifies longer term budgeting needs for public relations when needed. Assures PR budget is maintained in a fiscally responsible manner. Monitors monthly spending.
Represents the Board at conferences and government meetings, as well as with other organizations, for the purposes of exchanging information, coordinating services, and developing and maintaining inter-agency agreements when applicable.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess:
Bachelor?s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations and/or related field
Minimum five years? experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the nonprofit or healthcare setting.
Demonstrated work experience in writing press releases, making presentations
and negotiating with the media.
Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
