The automated logistical specialist is primarily responsible for supervising and performing management or warehouse functions in order to maintain equipment records and parts.
Job Duties
Establish and maintain stock records and other documents such as inventory, material control, accounting and supply reports
Review and verify quantities received against bills of contracts, purchase requests and shipping documents
Unload, unpack, count, segregate, palletize and store incoming supplies and equipment
Construct bins, shelving and other storage aids
Simplify and standardize the collection and use of maintenance data
Raise the quality and accuracy of performance, cost and parts data through improved maintenance management
Requirements
Take and pass the ASVAB test given by an Army Recruiter
Have a Diploma, Degree, or GED
Have no felonies and no currently open law (to include tickets)
Must be able to pass a physical examination
Must be between the ages of 17 and 34
Must be a US Citizen or Naturalized Citizen
Training
Job training for an automated logistical specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instructions. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field, including practice in handling and storing stock. Some of the skills you?ll learn are:
Stock control and accounting procedures
Procedures for shipping, receiving, storing and issuing stock
Movement, storage and maintenance of ammunition
Procedures for handling medical and food supplies
Helpful Skills
Interest in mathematics, bookkeeping, accounting, business administration and/or typing
Keep accurate records
Enjoy physical work
Interest in operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment
Compensation
You will receive Full-Time pay and benefits of between $1600-2100 per month during Basic Training and your Job Training. Upon your return home you will receive between $220-$270 per your 1 weekend a month. During you 2 weeks of training each summer you will also receive Full-Time Pay and Benefits.
Through the Army Reserve you will be authorized to enroll you and your family in the Tricare Select Reserve medical plan at a significantly reduced rate compared to civilian / private-sector medical plans.
Through this position you may be qualified to receive up to $40,000 in Student Loan Repayment Program that will pay for all currently existing and college loans you may require in the future. You may also be qualified for a Montgomery GI Bill Kicker of $200 per month.
In the Army Reserve you will be authorized Tuition Assistance to pay up to $4500 a year of college if you decide to pursue a college degree. You will also receive the Reserve Montgomery GI Bill that will cover an additional $18,000 worth of college expenses. You may also qualify for the Montgomery GI Bill Kicker which will increase your Montgomery GI Bill to $26,000.
