YWCA Program Assistant (Shelter Plus Care Rental Assistance Program) Job Opening in seattle, Washington - YWCA Program Assistant (Shelter Plus Care Rental Assistance Program) REPORTS TO: Shelter Plus Care Program Manager LOCATION: 3301 Broadway, Everett WA 98201 DESCRIPTION: The position of Program Assistant provides administrative support to the Shelter Plus Care Program. A successful applicant will have proven abilities in maintaining the accuracy and confidentiality of client information, attention to detail in preparing paperwork and an enthusiasm for supporting the permanent housing program. Computer literacy is expected, as some tasks may involve the use of Microsoft Outlook, Access, Excel and Word. The candidate should also have a strong history prioritizing and handling a consistently high volume of tasks. Prior experience in the social services field, specifically working with low-income and disabled individuals, is highly desirable. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Shelter Plus Care housing program provides housing vouchers to ten partner social service agencies for disabled individuals and families. The vouchers are combined with supportive services to enable these individuals and families to live independently in the community. RESPONSIBILITIES ? Create and maintain accurate hard copy program files ? Responsible for accuracy of content and format of program files ? Produce monthly reports for partnership meeting ? Set up and take down conference room for meetings, coordinate refreshments ? Prepare and send annual re-certification paperwork to tenants, landlords and agencies ? Maintains adequate amounts of various forms and packets used by the program and coordinates printing services ? Daily copying, mailing and faxing of correspondence for tenants, landlords and agencies ? Orders office supplies ? Schedule and assist in preparation for informal hearings and client orientations ? Front desk coverage when needed ? Data entry into HMIS and other databases on a daily basis ? Show demonstrated ability to interact with people of different cultures. ? Continuing search for understanding of racial, gender and class equity. ? Adhere to all Volunteer Services protocol relative to volunteer usage, recognition and monitoring. Work alongside volunteers, where applicable ? Assure that volunteers are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender or socioeconomic background ? Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES ? Minimum of an AA degree and one year of experience working in a social service setting ? Commitment to and experience working with diverse individuals, groups, communities and organizations ? Advanced computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Word, Access and Excel ? Ability and commitment to keeping the confidentiality of program participants ? Ability to lift 30 lbs and climb stairs multiple times per day. ? Core competencies expected: attention to detail, oral and written communication, collaboration, initiative, ethics and integrity, problem solving, and professionalism. After screening resumes and conducting interviews, the final five applicants will be required to participate in a skills test. HOURS, RATE, BENEFITS ? Part Time, 20 hours per week ? Prorated benefits package including medical insurance, retirement plan, plus generous vacation, holiday and sick leave plans. ? As a condition of employment, the YWCA requires all employees hired on or after July, 1 2009 to make a 5% contribution into a 403(b) plan sponsored by the YWCA until they are eligible for the YWCA Retirement Plan. Once an employee is eligible (typically after two years) for the YWCA Retirement Plan, that individual is no longer required to participate in the 403B plan, but is required to participate in the YWCA Retirement Plan at a reduced pay rate of 5%. This reduction in pay coupled with a local YWCA and National YWCA match reaffirms the YWCA?s commitment to the long-term self sufficiency of our staff and is a benefit for YWCA employees. It is important to note; however, the 5% reduced pay rate will lead to a reduction in pay, but, will never reduce wages below the minimum wage required by the State of Washington. This new pay rate will be the basis of any future YWCA salary adjustments. If you have worked in a YWCA agency previously and qualified for YWCA retirement, your deducted wages along with YWCA contributions will immediately be transferred to the YWCA retirement.
