Finance Department
Hours: This is a full-time, non- exempt, position
Salary Range: $11.93/hr to $15.00/hr
Location: Kansas City-Caritas Center
This position is responsible for processing check requests from the receipt of the requests from the programs through issuing the Accounts Payable checks for the Agency and the Foundation. In addition, this position is responsible for the credit card reconciliation for the Agency and the Foundation. This position will also handle all administrative duties of the Finance Department and any other duties assigned as necessary that will aid the Finance Department with daily, weekly and monthly processing.

Commitment to Customers:
The Admin Accounting clerk must be aware that indirectly they are committed to the people served by Catholic Charities. Many of these served are on the brink of having utilities turned off and/or being evicted. Therefore the Admin Accounting person must be willing to process check requests for emergency services on an exceptionally timely basis. This may occasionally require checks issued outside the normal check processing schedule.
The employees of Catholic Charities are the finance department?s direct customers. The Admin Accounting clerk must be willing to work with employees to get their check requests processed on a timely basis so as to help their clients and to reimburse the employees
The Admin Accounting clerk must be committed to supporting the other programs so as to pay other bills such as for programs supplies and other vendors on a timely basis so as not incur late fees and maintain a good relationship with the vendor.
The Admin Accounting clerk will be responsible for reconciling and processing the credit card statements of all employees in a timely manner as to assist with the monthly allocation that need to be completed and entered in the accounting software.
Stewardship:
The Admin Accounting clerk should be able to process client journals and check authorization forms efficiently by handling them the minimum necessary while still maintaining accuracy
The Admin Accounting clerk should be able to give feedback to personnel in other programs who prepare check authorization forms so that they will be prepared appropriately with all the necessary documentation prior to arrival in the finance department.
The Admin Accounting clerk must be able to meet deadlines.
The Admin Accounting clerk will handle all administrative duties and request for the Finance Department.
Team Work and Collaboration:
The Admin Accounting clerk must be aware of Finance department deadlines as the Admin Accounting expense dates affect accounting allocations, grant billing, and month end close.
The Admin Accounting clerk must be willing to work with other members of the finance team.
The Admin Accounting clerk must be willing to attend monthly Administration team meetings.
The Admin Accounting clerk must be willing to file all accounting data on a weekly basis.
The Admin Accounting clerk will also pull and re-file paid bills as necessary, particularly during the annual accounting audit
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
2 years working with an automated Accounts Payable Accounting system
A basic understanding of accounting through working with an accounting system or having taken an a fundamentals of accounting course
Competent in Excel
Competent in Microsoft Office
Proficient in overall use of Accounting Software
Associates Degree and/or equivalent to 2-3 experience of working in Accounting
MINIMUM TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
25% Travel throughout the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocese and the State of Missouri
