Description: based on candidate's preference part-time position 20-29 hours/week OR full-time 30-40 hours/week with benefits eligibility (medical, dental, vision, prescription insurance), flexible spending account (FSA) program, 403b tax-deferred retirement savings option, general office hours of 8:30am-4:30pm Monday through Friday with flexibility of schedule
Essential Job Functions:
Gather and evaluate financial information to develop and implement creative financial management strategies, including financial business plans and forecasts Prepare budgets and oversee compliance for contract/grant proposals
Monitor program budgets, especially for cost allocation issues, and send monthly financials to Program Managers
Compile and submit monthly and annual financial reports to funders/grantors Manage payables and receivables using QuickBooks
Prepare for audits; remain up to date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations
Meet with Program Managers to prepare and review budgets
Prepare monthly reports for the Board of Directors
Other duties as may be assigned
Education Requirements:
A minimum of an Associate's Degree in Accounting; a CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred
Work Experience and Skill Requirements:
A minimum of three years accounting experience; preferably with a nonprofit organization or government
Experience in a senior role, partnering with executive staff to develop and implement strategies across the organization
Able to work well with diverse populations
Advanced skill level with QuickBooks
Intermediate skill level in MS Word, Excel and Access, and with the Internet and e-mail
Valid driver's license, appropriate insurance, and ability to travel (without notice) to required trainings, meetings, presentations, and other obligations as necessary
Excellent (English) oral, written, interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
Ability to adapt to a continually evolving environment
Highly organized and self-motivated
Work Experience and Education Preferences:
Strongly prefer experience in or knowledge of nonprofit and/or government accounting, including proposals/contracts, sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting
Strongly prefer human resource experience
Strongly prefer experience with A-133 audits
