The CNC Machinist works independently Program CNC machine tools, specifying movement along three axes to create shape specified as well as machining part from start to finish.

Required:
Program CNC machine tools, specifying movement along three axes to create shape specified as well as setup, operate, machining part from start to finish
Transpose measurements from scale drawings into machine operating code
Involves the use of various equipment such as CNC and NC mills and lathes, saws, hardening ovens, drill press, grinders, measurement devices (such as calipers and micrometers), etc.
Able to read, interpret and react to 3D models. Read computer-generated profile views of a piece being made in order to adjust the tooling appropriately. Interpret blueprints showing where the holes are to be placed in a piece of steel
Identify missing dimension and/or tolerance callouts and report these to team leader and/or engineering department
Maintaining quality of finished product(s) by performing quality checks and (i.e. using calipers, micrometers, gauges and other precision measuring instruments) ? responsible for producing/auditing quality of parts
Working with various materials, including acetal, aluminum, and steel - ability to finish parts (deburring, polishing, etc.)
Alert Supervisor when new material needs to be ordered
3 years programming CNC
Environment:
This position works on the factory floor in the presence of forklifts and machinery.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires physical demands to perform the essential functions of the job.
Standing throughout the day
Continuous walking throughout the plant to review quality and productivity
Requiring twisting, bending, stooping, lifting, and core rotation
Requires repetitive lifting, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
Uses pallet jacks moving full pallet loads of paper requiring pushing/pulling
Requires mechanical ability to perform routine maintenance, product changeovers/set ups and troubleshooting using common hand tools

Education:
Associate, Technical, or Vocational degree desired, plus at least four years work experience in related field.
