JOB DESCRIPTION ? Sr. Software Engineer
Mountain RF Sensors, Inc., based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is currently recruiting for the position of Sr. Software Engineer. The successful candidate will be designing, developing, testing, and evaluating software for a company with a diversified product line of advanced digital receivers and related RF products. Mountain RF products are often tailored to meet customer requirements. Therefore, the successful candidate will demonstrate advanced knowledge of radio, antennas, and other communication devices. Principal candidate will be self-motivated and capable of working well independently to meet company goals. A more detailed list of job responsibilities is outlined below.
Summary/Objective
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Software Engineer with deep knowledge and appreciation of forward-thinking software design and development techniques to join our team.
The Mountain RF Software Engineer is an integral part of our engineering team and is responsible for a broad array of duties ranging from software and new product development, client interactions, to project management. Ultimately, we expect the Sr. Software Engineer to be a key member of our team and to build high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software that complies with coding standards and technical design.

Applies engineering principals to develop software in line with the growth strategy of Mountain RF Sensors Inc.
Write well-designed, testable code
Produce specifications and determine operational feasibility
Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
Document and maintain software functionality
Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
Communicate the results of product and software tests, both verbally and in writing.
Develop flowcharts, layouts, and documentation to identify requirements and solutions
Comply with project plans and industry standards
Interface with customers, both commercial and government.
Planning and scheduling, identification, and purchase of required materials.
Competencies
Experience developing software in C and C++
Experience using software tools such as compilers, assemblers, debuggers, programmers, JTAG, etc.
Experience with embedded programming for microcontrollers, TI preferred
Experience working with communication protocols over serial interfaces, such as RS232, RS485, SPI
Experience working with Networking protocols such as TCP and UDP over IPv4
Knowledge of DSP concepts such as filters, modulation, demodulation, mixing, shifting, NCOS
Knowledge of data acquisition concepts
Knowledge of control interfaces to hardware, such as switches, potentiometers, encoders, displays, etc.
Knowledge of FPGAs and Verilog programming a plus
Ability to read schematics
RF experience is extremely desirable
Desired development tools experience: TI code composer studio, Visual Studio 2013.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Work Environment
This position operates in a combination of lab and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and engineering tools/devices.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This position is a full-time salaried position. The normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 1 hour for lunch.
Travel Occasional travel is required. Normally less than 12 days a year.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor?s degree from an accredited university in a software engineering related field.
Experience: Five or more years of designing and developing software. Previous military service is welcomed, as is in-depth knowledge of RF systems and communications.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications Familiarity with bench test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters and signal generators is expected. Use of hand tools and soldering experience is a plus.
Work Clearance US Citizenship is required. At a future time, the ability to obtain a Secret clearance may be indicated.
