Software Engineer (TV) Job Opening in Atlanta, Georgia - Hisense is growing quickly and looking for Senior & Junior Sofware Engineers! As a Software Engineer, you will work with a team of Engineers (hardware and software) and other team members (Project/Product Management, Marketing) to design and develop exciting and new experiences for Hisense TV products!
This positions are based in our Georgia office (30024), reporting to the SW Technical Manager.
Position Overview:
Work with a team of engineers (hardware and software) and other team members (Project/Product management, Marketing) to design and develop exciting and new experiences for Hisense TV products
Job Characteristics:
Development for TV and ?second screen? products
o Develop HTML5/JavaScript based software modules for product projects
o Develop C/C++ based web engine plugins for product and research projects
o Complete integration development for 3rd party applications.
o Understand the current architecture of the TV software system. Analyze and optimize the architecture for better functionality and performance
Collaborate with product management and other teams to document solution requirements and use cases.
Intellectual Properties
o Submit patentable ideas
Internal Coordination and Communication:
This position is responsible for communicating and coordinating with following Hisense USA teams:
Software Development Team
Product Managers
QA Team
Project Team (project managers for different areas of project)
Management and Administrations
External Coordination and Communication:
This position is responsible for communicating and coordinating with following external teams:
Hisense Qingdao Headquarters? SW Chief Engineers and Project Managers
3rd party application partners (Netflix, Youtube, Amazon, etc)
Any other company involved in the project (i.e Jamdeo, Roku)
Hisense HQ?s product management team and QA team
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Complete development tasks for TV product projects
Complete development tasks for TV research projects
Complete integration development for 3rd party applications on TV products
Understand the current architecture of the TV software system. Analyze and optimize the architecture for better functionality and performance
Documenting solution requirements and use cases
Submit patentable ideas
Knowledge, Skills, & Ability:
Knowledge of TV and Tablet products functionality, features, and standards, preferably in media streaming, cable TV area.
C/C++, Java
Web development technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3)
Experiences on video streaming: Apple Http Live Streaming, MPEG-DASH, Microsoft Smooth Streaming
Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design / data structures
Coaching, directing, counseling junior engineers
Strong problem solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Work Conditions (conditions, environment, and physical demands)
Work with personal computer, test equipment and small and large consumer electronic devices (phones, tablets, 32? to 85? TVs).
Work in the presence of low power RF and microwave emissions (less than 1 watt ERP)
Work in a lab and office environment

Lifting 26 to 50 lbs
Normal conversation level for hearing

Work may require extended work hours during peak period

Job Requirements
Bachelors degree in software engineering, computer science or engineering or equivalent related experience
years of experience in software development for consumer electronics products or related technology industry.(based on level hire)
years of experience documenting clear and concise technical solutions to be distributed to the development and QA teams .(based on level hire)
years of experience identifying, documenting, and maintaining technical requirements for solutions to be distributed to the development and QA teams .(based on level hire)
Proficient MS Office applications;
Ability to adjust and set priorities to meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
Strong persuasion and negotiation skills, including conflict resolution skills.
Ability to work independently; self-motivated with ability to drive projects.
