Job Responsibilities
Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
Essential Duties
Prepare and record monthly financial statement, asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information
Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies
Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; prepare a trial balance; reconciling entries
Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements
Produce payroll by initiating computer processing, printing checks, and verifying finished product. Complete external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts
Perform accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to book, reconcile and report in-force premium, direct written premium and loss fund balance, retro accrual, cash, cash applied to A/R, bad debt allowance and non-admitted A/R on a monthly basis as well as for any GAAP vs. STAT differences
Coordinate and resolve various issues with bank such as cleared check differences, bank fee anomalies, targeted balance calculations
Provide guidance on company accounting standards, deficiencies in process, and improvement steps required
Avoid legal challenges by complying with legal requirements and protect organization?s value by keeping information confidential
Secure financial information by completing database backups
Perform ad hoc reports and other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Accounting or equivalent degree from an accredited university
2 years and above progressively responsible experience in Accounting (M&A and Project Investment experiences preferred)
CPA preferred
Other Requirements
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of Statutory accounting principles
Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and FRx or similar programs
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and statutory accounting.
Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and accounting skills
The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his/her work product. The individual will work closely with all major functional leaders of the Company
