System Administrator (Linux) Job Opening in Hagerstown, Maryland - Work for a Client who is technology leader, a trusted partner to the government, providing information technology, and environmental services and solutions to Federal and state government agencies.
Work closely with client team to provide support for the development and maintenance of existing RedHat Enterprise Linux systems onsite at a Federal facility as well as hosted with Microsoft Azure. Will perform systems analysis to identify system and application requirements; troubleshoot and restore systems to operational status, including internally developed applications; and support development of new documentation, and the update of existing documentation. Interface with the government customer and technical team to develop plans for the deployment of new systems.
Will work with other administrators to exchange information as well as solve larger scale problems. Will audit system services including weekly auditing and reporting; administer RedHat Enterprise Linux servers; perform patch management, system security, firewall configuration and system monitoring, LDAP configuration, TCP/IP , NFS/Samba configuration; and X11, and X server/client troubleshooting, hardware troubleshooting and support of Dell servers. Requires knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux.
Will work with Information System Security Officer to provide recommendations to mitigate threats and vulnerabilities on Linux Operating systems, respond to POA&M and other requests to mediate identified security risks, perform risk analyses that also include risk assessment, develop technical solutions and recommend new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities. prepare and document Standard Operating Procedures and security protocols as required.
Required :
8 years of experience with solid system administration skills, RedHat Enterprise Linux, Backup, Patch Management, Implementing Secure Configurations, etc. Shell scripting and automation experience. Experience with web servers, including Apache/Tomcat. Experience with support in a shared Windows/Linux environment. Ability to multi-task and handle multiple ongoing tasks simultaneously. Good communication and documentation skills (both written and oral).
Experience administering a SAN/NAS environment, including fiber-channel networking. Demonstrate problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure caused by changing requirements and deadlines.
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
Desired :
Experience in automation technologies such as Puppet and with container services (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with virtualization technologies such as KVM, Hyper-V, or Xen.
Education
BA or BS in Computer Science or related degree (preferred) or equivalent.
