Accounting Specialist Job Opening in Southfield, Michigan - PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for collections on assigned receivable accounts.
Responsible for taking deposits to bank.
Responsible for Petty Cash disbursements.
Responsible for Spaulding Institutes product distribution function, including processing and billing for orders.
Liaison between Finance Department and Foster Care program. Responsible for procuring the appropriate payment authorizations to substantiate receivable balances, as applicable.
Responsible for all non-routine purchasing, for CFS programs and business office.
Assist with Finance Section of Agency Foster Care Database.
Assist in month end and year end closings, along with associated reporting.
Monthly reconcile assigned accounts.
Backup for phone and opening the mail as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor?s degree, preferably in accounting.
Three years relevant work experience, preferably in a non-profit environment
Intermediate or above knowledge of Microsoft Office, with demonstrated ability to create, design, edit and proof Excel spreadsheets and basic MS Access database.
Experience using computerized accounting applications
Excellent organization skills and skilled in file maintenance and management
Excellent communications skills, both oral and written. Corrects own work and is very accurate
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
Ability to handle multiple tasks
Ability to maintain confidentiality of work
Valid driver?s license, current/up to date car insurance and reliable transportation
