Assistant Controller Job Opening in Plymouth, Michigan - AVL is looking for an Assistant Controller to assist with the Powertrain Engineering, Inc. division of the company. This role will entail daily review of project workload, general account reqs., and revenue recognition. This individual will also be responsible for all audits and will assist the Controller with maintaining and directing policies of the department. In addition, they will support development and implementation of accounting policies, recommends changes to policy as needed to increase efficiency or update procedures.

AVL Powertrain Engineering, Inc. EOE
Assists Controller with maintaining and directing policies of the department.
Supports development and implementation of accounting policies, recommends changes to policy as needed to increase efficiency or update procedures.
Oversees and monitors Accountant and the Project Accountant, including training and assignment of duties and projects.
Reviews general ledger activity to ensure complete and accurate financial reporting.
Responsible for month end close of at least one operating company to ensure timing deadlines are met.
Assists Controller in Monthly / Quarterly / Annual reporting to Graz.
Supports all aspects of the department?s day-to-day activities.
Assists in preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
Prepares annual budget and quarterly forecast for at least one operating company
Prepares year-end reporting package for at least one operating company
Assists with special projects as assigned by Controller and/or CFO.
Requires Bachelor?s degree with concentration in Finance / Accounting.
Accounting and finance supervisory experience required.
Accounting and finance software implementation experience preferred.
Accounting certification preferred.
Five to Ten years of experience in finance / accounting required.
Strong finance / accounting background required
Project accounting experience required.
