Medical Receptionist Job Opening in Ventura, California - West Ventura Medical Clinic seeks experienced Medical Receptionists, occasional weekend and evening hours required.
Job Purpose: Provide excellent customer service to all West Ventura Medical Clinic patients in person or on the phone. Collaborate with all members of the care team to facilitate the smooth running of the clinic and support delivery of quality patient care.

:
High School graduate or equivalent required. Medical Assistant Certificate, Associate Degree or some college preferred.
Minimum of 1 year (12 months) of full time work experience within the healthcare industry is required. Experience as a Medical Receptionist in a primary care clinic preferred.
Experience with electronic medical records and standard PC Software applications required.
Experience with medical insurance: preferred.
Experience with California State programs such as Family PACT and the Cancer Detection Program preferred.
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Welcomes patients and visitors by making eye contact, smiling, introducing him/herself by name, greeting patients and visitors; responding to all inquiries in a courteous manner.
Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.
Registers patients, verifies insurance coverage, and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information.
Collects co-pays and payments accurately and consistently.
Facilitates patient flow by notifying the back office of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff.
Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments correctly in person or by telephone. Reviews schedules in advance to identify unused slots, inappropriate bookings and communicates to supervisor.
Responds to incoming phone calls quickly, courteously and thoroughly. Documents conversations accurately, immediately and consistently in the electronic medical record. Escalates only when unable to resolve.
Prints daily appointment schedule, sets up and maintains records and logs.
Confirms patient appointments for the following day.
Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information by not leaving sensitive information in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs and monitoring office equipment, communicating to supervisor about needed supplies or equipment malfunctions.
Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
May train or orient new employees and assist supervisor with other duties as assigned.
Complies and keeps current with accreditation standards and federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
