Position: Sales & Marketing Manager Reports To: General Manager, Corporate Director of Sales Job Purpose: To actively solicit corporate, government and group room night and ancillary business (i.e. meeting room rental, banquets, etc.) in order to achieve overall budgeted revenue goals for the hotel. Responsible for developing key corporate accounts, networking and overall marketing and promotion of the hotel. Job Summary: Strives to accomplish marketing and sales objectives daily, monthly and quarterly by developing and focusing on sales action plans; identifies marketing and public relations opportunities within the community, state, and region; responsible for managing departmental expenses; responsible for developing and maintaining rapport with key accounts of the hotel. Duties:
Meets or exceeds the sales revenue goals for the hotel with strong focus on the corporate, group and government market segments.
Establish and build Local Negotiated Rate (LNR) program in order to build strong base of corporate business for the hotel.
Accomplish sales objectives by planning, developing, and implementing approved 30/60/90 day sales action plans. Stay focused on accomplishing goals identified vs. deviating from agreed upon goals unless otherwise approved.
Accomplish advertising and marketing objectives by planning, developing, implementing and evaluating potential advertising, promotional, marketing and seasonal opportunities that fall within the sales department?s budgetary guidelines. Work closely with Corporate Director of Sales when developing this advertising and media calendar.
Closely monitor Smith Travel Research STAR reports monthly to review property?s occupancy, ADR, and REVPAR vs. the competition (within the competitive set) and more importantly, identify potential opportunities for the hotel to increase market share within the competitive set of the hotels. Identify top accounts for each competitive property in order to target those accounts for potential business for the hotel.
Develop and maintain ongoing rapport with key hotel accounts by making periodic visits and identifying specific needs for key accounts.
Participate in weekly Rev Max meeting with General Manager and Assistant General Manager. Involvement in this meeting should include providing updates and/or information on potential group business and/or corporate or government business being solicited over specific periods of time that will enhance overall demand during that period and allow the hotel the opportunity to increase overall rates resulting in increased revenues. May also be involved with the creation and/or promotion of packages, special events or holiday/seasonal promotions.
Participates in weekly sales meeting with the hotel General Manager.
Provides written weekly sales recap (1 page) for GM, Corporate Director of Sales and VP of Operations to include the following information:
Weekly activity (# of appointments, # of maintenance and/or cold calls, # of site tours, # of networking events attended and any other miscellaneous information).

Maintains accurate and up to date sales account files.
Participates in forecasting and/or budgeting process as requested by the hotel General Manager and VP of Operations.
Develops annual Marketing Plan for the hotel with final approval by the Corporate Director of Sales.
Adheres to all policies and procedures as identified within the employee handbook and management company guidelines. Maintains overall ?Confidentiality? of information as it relates to the brand, S&L Hospitality, and ownership.
Follow all safety related guidelines and practices. Participate in any safety related training programs throughout the year (i.e. HazCom, Blood Borne Pathogens, Emergency Evacuation, etc.).
Enhances overall job knowledge by participating in approved educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Any other duties, responsibilities or special assignments as specified by the hotel General Manager, Corporate Director of Sales or the VP of Operations.
Qualifications:
Previous hotel sales experience required.
Previous hotel marketing experience preferred.
Must have the ability to make sales calls (scheduled appointments and cold calls).
Previous experience with managing key sales accounts and targeting prospects within a designated region required.
Must have the ability to develop a rapport with hotel clients and maintain strong working relationships.
BA/BS in Sales Communications, Marketing, or Hotel & Restaurant Management or at least two years experience in similar position preferred.
Physical Requirements:
