The City of Calgary Career Opportunity Mechanical Maintenance Worker 3 Reference # 113415 Closing date: May 19, Business unit information Corporate Properties & Buildings is The City's corporate accommodation planner, property and real estate manager. We plan, design, build and operate leading edge facilities and acquire land for critical infrastructure for municipal purposes. This includes vital land and buildings for transportation, emergency response stations, operation sites and administrative buildings. Our vision is to deliver optimal land, development and facility solutions within a triple bottom line decision-making framework to help achieve a sustainable city for everyone. Responsibilities Reporting to the Site Supervisor, this position is responsible for the operation, servicing, repair, indoor air quality, preventative maintenance and direction of contractors for mechanical systems under Corporate Properties & Buildings' envelope. Responsibilities include: - Perform preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment and systems including life safety systems (emergency generator, smoke removal and pressurization systems). - Repair and service HVAC, mechanical and life safety systems. - Oversee contractors used for the repair and service of mechanical equipment. - Oversee daily monitoring and operation of HVAC systems via the building automation system. - Identify mechanical and control system problems, repair problems or consult and work with staff to deliver timely repair and/or program changes. - Provide first line service with customers, to address air quality calls. - Attend job site meetings, review plans and shop drawings, and commission new and retrofitted mechanical systems. - Update equipment data and maintenance manuals and assist with budget and life cycle replacement on equipment and systems. The working conditions of this position include exposure to exhaust, paint and chemical fumes, noise, rotating equipment, chemicals and pigeon contamination. Qualifications The successful applicant will possess a high school diploma or equivalency (i.e. GED), and one of the following combinations of related education, with four or more years of experience in operation and maintenance of commercial building mechanical systems: a 4th Class Power Engineer's Certificate issued after Sept. 1, 1998 (ABSA); OR a Building Operator A Certificate (ABSA) (or provincial equivalent). A Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) with less than six demerit points is required. Basic proficiency using Microsoft Office is also required. Possession of a related trade ticket would be an asset. Success in this position requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, building plans, schematic drawings, especially related to HVAC systems, and an in-depth knowledge of commercial building HVAC systems and extensive experience with one of the major building automation control systems. As well, strong communication, organization, judgment and analytical skills are needed, along with the ability to prioritize tasks and to work both independently and as part of a team. == sandusky oh ohio
