Senior Accountant Job Opening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Alfalfa Nail Supply Inc. has an opening in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana location for a Controller/CFO position. This position will interface with senior management Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accounting activity recorded within the company?s records and books are accurate and complete and for providing routing and ad hoc financial reports and analysis. This role is expected to adhere to the company's accounting policy and practices as well as U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) key focus of the role is to manage, direct and coordinate all of aspect of accounting and financial reporting activities and ensure the financial integrity of manufacture, wholesaler and retailer operations with provide financial analysis in an effort to monitor spending and ensure internal controls and compliance, as well as maintain the general ledger.
Responsibilities:
Budgeting, product costing, inventory reporting, analyzing and communicating functional activity and results.
Ensures financial statements accurately reflect results of operations and the financial position of the company.
Assist the function management team in financial analysis necessary for decision making.
Records, monitors, reports and communicates function/business results.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Complete product costing of materials, review for variances and correct/communicate results to business management. Perform product inventory reviews and fixed assets reviews.
Provide financial analysis to senior management teams as needed for project studies, options analysis and measurements.
Integral to this role is establishing and maintaining an ongoing working relationship with other sub-processes and functions.
Demonstrated leadership and initiative competencies as well as the ability to identify root causes of issues and discover/implement practical solutions
Open to and proposes new ideas to improve existing work processes.
Helps to drive change to reduce complexity
Recognizes cross-functional as well as cross-Finance impacts and takes action to address needs.
Providing financial guidance and analysis to operations in support of day-to- day financial management and long term business planning
Developing and monitoring operating budgets, developing and implementing reports required for cost control, operating plans, and forecasts
Monitoring inventory, purchasing, receiving, shipping and cost accounting systems for data integrity and controlled access
Directing and developing monthly closing and estimate reporting; analyzing monthly operating costs and production variances
Supervise and direct accounting department; supervise junior accountants and bookkeeping personnel, review and prepare monthly sales tax, use tax, corporate income tax and perform tax.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience required (Private/public company, manufacturer,
etc...), with at least 2 years? Accounting supervisor experience in a manufacturing cost accounting preferred
Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP requirements
Demonstrated technical accounting ability in a manufacturing environment
Superior communication skills
Initiative and ability to implement solutions with little to no guidance
Strong coaching and interpersonal skills
Excellent knowledge of work processes, ERP system and other accounting and planning computer applications
Solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft tools
Demonstrated Analytical Skills
Ability to quickly learn the organizational structure and to collaborate with colleagues (functional and business)
Active CPA is preferred
Education:
Minimum Bachelor?s Degree* in Accounting or Finance
Master Degree in Accounting is preferred
Degree has to be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U. S. Dept of Education
