The Employment & Empowerment Team Program (EET), an award-winning program, connects a volunteer team of professionals with job ready JBJ Soul Kitchen volunteers who are underemployed or unemployed. Participants receive help with resume writing, interview skills, job coaching, life coaching, legal advice, and financial counseling. EET fosters employment partnerships with local companies in healthcare, food, banking, home improvement, education and hospitality industries to assist with job placements.
JBJ Soul Kitchen is in search of an Employment & Empowerment Program Manager. The Program Manager reports to the Kitchen Founder/Program Director. The position supports the JBJ Soul Kitchens located in Red Bank, NJ and Toms River, NJ. Approximately fifty percent of this position is done remotely. Travel in Monmouth and Ocean Counties is required.
Responsibilities:
Manage EET program participant relationships including assigning coaches, setting participant expectations, and requirements.
Manage and support the EET volunteer team of professionals including recruitment, training, program participant advice, collecting regular progress reports, and filling in for team members when they are unable to continue their job coaching obligation.
Work closely with the JBJ Soul Kitchen Outreach team to identify eligibile job ready Soul Kitchen volunteers for participation in the EET program.
Foster and strengthen employment partnerships with both new and existing companies and employment agencies.
Coach program participants as needed on interviewing skills, researching prospective companies, resume writing, compensation negotiations, utilizing employment agencies, personal and professional contacts, job fairs, job posting techniques and use of social media sites.
Plan and coordinate EET conference calls 6 times a year with the volunteer team.
Develop an information system to collect and manage program information and outcome measurements for the EET program including; volunteer hours, survey results, tracking past and present program participants, signed employment contracts, resumes, progress updates, and job offers.
Update EET program manual in coordination with Foundation staff as needed.
Create and manage an EET Alumni Program to engage alumni with current program participants, recruit them as volunteers and explore creative ways for them to pay it forward.
Plan EET events such as Workshops, Annual Team Luncheon, Semi-annual team strategy meetings, Soul Kitchen sponsored Job Fairs, Team Building Skills, Alumni Program Events, Soul Kitchen Staff Workshops, and Mental Health Training.
Foster and strengthen relationships with community resources.
Requirements:
Strong background in Human Resources preferably in recruiting, employee relations, coaching, training & development
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication (written & oral) skills.
Strong managerial skills with the ability to manage a diverse group of volunteers and participants from a wide variety of life situations.
Experience volunteering or working with individuals struggling with financial insecurity is a plus.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong emotional intelligence and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proven analytical, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
Solid relationship management skills.
Creative thinker who is self-motivated, but also works well within a team setting.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Database experience a plus.
A sincere desire to give back to the community by utilizing your skills and knowledge to help people find employment.
Ability to travel and work remotely with internet access.
