Job Title: Finance Intern
Department: Executive
Reports To: Finance Director
PURPOSE OF POSITION : The primary function of the position is to directly assist the Finance Department with a wide range of accounting related projects.
This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills he or she may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest, and apply them in a professional setting. He or she will gain a better understanding of the role that Finance can play in a non-profit setting, and be better prepared to work in the arena of accounting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Covenant House Georgia reserves the right to unilaterally modify, remove, or add to any of the following:
. Assist in professional analytical and management support work assignments
. Assist in the preparation of financial reports
. Assist to develop and utilize financial spreadsheets
. Assist with audit preparation
. Complete miscellaneous, special projects of the Finance department as needed
SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
. Moderate expertise in numbers and good math skills are very important
. Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of accounting and financial analysis
. Able to collect, evaluate and interpret data
. Good written and oral communication skills
. Other skills required are related to problem solving, entering and verifying data, knowledge of computers and standard office equipment
. Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
. Individuals with an interest or students of business administration, finance and management or want to become chartered accountants proficient in the skills listed above
. Must pass a background check
