Summary
The plant controller position functions as a business partner with plant and financial management to effectively manage and control the local business. Leads the financial staff at the plant and is accountable for plant-level responsibilities including general accounting, payables, order entry, billing, cost accounting, bill of materials, business analysis, financial reporting, sales management, and computer operations. Will also liaison with corporate financial staff, as required.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
Advise management of potential liabilities.
Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
Arranges for audits of company's accounts.
Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
Establishes relations with banks and other financial institutions.
Maintains harmony among employees and resolves grievances. Communicates effectively with employees to relay messages, policies, practices, schedules, etc.
Directs development and implementation of methods and procedures to ensure and maintain financial control. Follows guidelines established by corporate rules and regulations.
Estimates future financial performance; assists in developing annual profit plan. Analyzes accuracy of such projections and recommends future financial plan, forecasts, and policies.
Evaluates current performance projections. Analyzes and appraises plant financial status. Adjusts projections as needed through review and analysis of monthly performance.
Performs studies on return on investment, break-even analysis, cost control, capital expenditures, pay back periods, etc.
Provides management with expertise and counsel in the areas of finance and accounting. Works closely to control company adherence to laws.

Payroll
Fixed assets
General ledger

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting/Finance from a four-year college or university.
Must have 5 years of complex accounting experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of cost, general and advanced accounting techniques and problem solving ability to resolve major problems.
Previous experience leading and managing a team is required.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Previous experience participating in strategic business planning, including forecasting and budgeting.
QAD experience preferred, but not required.
Automotive industry experience preferred, but not required.
Limited travel required on an as needed basis.
