Senior Accountant Job Opening in Burlington, Massachusetts - Our client has an amazing opportunity for an ambitions accounting professional as they provide work/life balance (40-45 hour work weeks year round). The ideal candidate will be technologically savvy, highly detail oriented, extremely organized, and have superb customer service skills.
They are currently a sixteen person team, so you will be exposed to all facets of the business, including Partners and Account Managers. The potential for career development is limited only by your abilities, drive and willingness to work. While accounting experience and education is necessary, we expect to train on the nuances of there industry niche.
Technical Competencies
Unless you already possess experience with federal government contract and grant accounting ... In the first year, the position will primarily be that of a senior accountant mastering the technical skills of there niche business. The typical client has revenue of less than $10M per year, so the technical issues aren't overwhelming, but are along the lines of learning a new language.
Preparation of incurred cost submission (requires development of an understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulations and the Cost Accounting Standards)
Represent the client during the government audit of the incurred cost submission
Preparation of Uniform Guidance Audits (fka OMB A133 audits)
Master technical issues for different government agencies (DoD, NIH, DoE eash have supplemental regs and slightly different rules
Maintain client relationships
In year two, as skills are being mastered, the role of planning and executing will become the focus. As you evolve, you will be given a larger volume of client relationships. As you grow, you will be managing, mentoring, training, and developing the accounting staff - with a focus on systems improvement and the constant development of standard operating procedures.
REQUIREMENT ? you must be a CPA as niche requires a solid command of GAAP.
