Purchasing & Shipping Specialist Job Opening in Bainbridge Island, Washington - A dedicated leader in the manufacturing and service industry used in the sanitation process for various products has an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing & Shipping Specialist. The Purchasing & Shipping Specialist position is responsible for processing purchasing transactions, maintaining appropriate purchasing records, processing all outgoing shipments and examining and routing all incoming shipments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Edits purchase requests and prepares purchase orders.
Keeps files and records of materials, prices, inventories, and deliveries.
Interacts with suppliers for quotations, and to follow up purchases.
Operates computer for cost calculations, extensions, and discount applications.
Designates method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment.
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
Routes items to departments.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree in either Supply Chain Management or Business is desired;
Or one to three years of related supply chain experience and/or training;
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work independently and to self-manage time and projects.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced industry with critical dead-lines.
Highly committed team player, flexible, and able to work to tight deadlines.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access required. Proficiency with email required. Experience with Navision (NAV) ERP and accounting software desired.
