Accounting Supervisor Job Opening in Darien, Connecticut - Description
This role will be a key contributor in assisting with developing the Company?s monthly close process as well as assist in the preparation of the Company?s financial statements for internal and external purposes. The individual will support the Company?s close process, annual audits, and financial reporting.
Work directly with the accounting manager to complete the monthly close including booking journal entries, preparing reconciliations
Support the implementation of new GL system
Work directly with accounting manager to develop accounting policies and controls
Assist with the annual financial audit and periodic bank and compliance audits
Help in the preparation of financial statements
Assist the accounting manager to ensure the company remains current in applying existing and new accounting pronouncements and is in compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC guidelines and other regulatory concerns
Special Projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager, Accounting Director and Corporate Controller
Requirements
Experience with preparing financial statements, footnotes and all reporting requirements of forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K.
Big 4 or Large Regional Public accounting background required
Financial Services industry experience is preferred but not required
Ability to think strategically, analyze a problem and assist in the development of policies that are in the best interest of the company while complying with U.S. GAAP and other disclosure regulations
Superior analytical and critical thinking skills.
Keen attention to detail and ability to stay focused on the task regardless of the environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Initiative: Self-starter, someone who thrives on delivering results
Must be able to work independently while remaining a team player
Willingness to ?roll-up your sleeves? and take on all tasks, from the menial to the exciting
Minimum of 2 years of progressive accounting experience
Bachelor?s degree required; MBA preferred
CPA or someone pursuing license and meets the criteria to sit for the exam
