SUMMARY
Software Developer/Engineer (PHP) will implement software solutions involving web application frameworks, web services, and high-end database transactions in a robust multi-tiered LAMP stack environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical expertise developing applications, developing the front-end presentation layer using modern techniques and as well as developing and integrating with backend services and data sources. Candidates must also possess the ability to rapidly come up to speed on technology they may be unfamiliar with and translate new knowledge gained into high-quality solutions.
This is a virtual role - candidates can work remotely from anywhere in the continental US.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, test, debug and maintain web applications and web service based solutions in support of our product and customers.
Design and implement front-end applications, backend services, and data sources as appropriate using industry best practices.
Apply an iterative and agile approach to the development effort.
Perform design, code and test reviews of solutions.
Ensure company security and compliance standards are met.
Engage with customers, end users, and other project stakeholders to gain a complete understanding of various business requirements and goals.
Work with customers to support enhancements and fixes to existing applications in production.
Create necessary documentation to describe the applications and the internal technologies sufficiently.
Research new tools and techniques in an effort to constantly improve application architecture, performance and security.
Provide support coverage for the production application environment on a rotational schedule.
Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
Expert knowledge of PHP and SQL, JavaScript/HTML/CSS and MySQL database design.
Experience developing and deploying to cloud-based infrastructure services.
Experience with working in development teams, collaboration, contribution and source code version control.
Knowledge of web services (RESTful / SOAP), JSON, XML, web servers (Apache), Linux, communication protocols;
Experience with XML design and third party API integration.
Experience in building high-volume, custom web applications.
Experience using unit testing frameworks.
Working knowledge of essential network security concepts.
Ability to work independently with abstract requirements (essential).
Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage your own tasks and deadlines.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers, end-users and key stakeholders.
Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
Experience in debugging and optimizing code for application performance.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with changing priorities.
3 or more years of experience focusing on web application development and delivering complex applications in a production LAMP stack environment.
5 or more years of experience with other development languages and platforms.
Big data, data mining, and/or natural language processing experience is a plus.
EDUCATION
Bachelor?s degree (BS/BE) in Computer Science or related field (highly preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
