Responsibilities :
Coordinates with payroll operations and IT to resolve payroll issues in a timely and effective manner.
Performs analysis to find root cause of issues, and works with appropriate parties to resolve.
Thoroughly tests any changes/updates to the payroll system.
Develops, implements, and conducts projects and analysis, as assigned, to improve accuracy and efficiency of payroll processes.
Provides leadership to all team members for impact of process and query changes, including business impact on payroll results.
Provides leadership for team members related to process mapping, documentation and SOX controls.
Assures that functions are processed in a timely and compliant manner and management is provided with appropriate information to support operating decisions.
Supports existing operations and responsibilities as assigned.
Works with manager to evaluate operational performance of department to ensure accuracy and compliance, measuring against desired results, updating control points and reporting as necessary.
Assists teams in data investigation, reporting, and analysis as needed.
Participates in projects and programs, whether new or modified.
Provides guidance and process assistance as needed in development or to resolve unanticipated problems.
Evaluates results against expectations and operational needs.
Supports departmental and center-wide initiatives and goals, including:
Support and maintain environment of constant improvement through the use of Lean/Six Sigma tools
Ensure proper cross-training is maintained
Prepare documentation required to support new, modified, and existing operations, projects, and programs
Develops and maintains relationships with key partners throughout the JCPenney enterprise.
Assists in training and development of team members

Bachelor?s degree in accounting or business related major or equivalent business experience.
Lean, Six Sigma certification a plus.
3-5 years of progressive general accounting, analytical, and management experience with exposure to multiple aspects of these functions.
Prefer strong overall understanding of Payroll processes.
Familiarity with Data Mining in particular SQL queries and PeopleSoft, as well as Microsoft Office products preferred.
High level of analytical and conceptual skills, systems applications, accuracy, leadership, motivation and oral and written communication skills.
