Quality Assurance Specialist Job Opening in Chicago, Illinois - The Quality Assurance Specialist will administer and grow a large Chicago based seafood company's quality assurance programs. This entails overall responsibility for quality assurance/control of Hofseth North America's products, including but not limited to food safety, data governance, and regulatory compliance. This is a full-time position will be a key contributor to our young and growing team based at the company's North America headquarters in Chicago, IL.
The ideal candidate must meet the following critieria:
Manage company's HACCP programs and maintain all HACCP-related records
Maintain company policies and procedures around topics including but not limited to supplier labor practices, supply chain sustainability, product date coding, and product recalls
Monitor policy changes from regulatory agencies (FDA, UDSA, etc.) and implement changes to procedures, packaging, etc. as needed
Maintain all product data, including specification documents, GTINs/UPCs, product attributes, nutrition information, etc.
Managing relationships with providers and handle ongoing data synchronization efforts with customers
Perform in-house inspections of products via random sampling
Coordinate third-party food safety audits as well as social audits
Develop company's existing sustainability program to increase utilization of certifications
Travel as necessary to attend joint meetings as sales support with customers and perform inspections/audits of suppliers' plants
Skills/Experiences Required:
Bachelor's Degree
Two years minimum experience in FSQA, QA, food science, the seafood industry, or related area are required
Food safety or quality assurance experience preferred
Effective and strong written/verbal communication
High attention to detail
Must be able to effectively interact with both internal and external stakeholders
Ability to manage long-term projects related to data quality and improvement of existing processes
Base Pay: $50,000+ based on experience
