Program Activity Coordinator Job Opening in Downers Grove, Illinois - Community Adult Day Center is a nonprofit organization located in Downers Grove. Our mission is to enhance adult independence through socialization, care, and education while honoring individual life stories. We provide life enrichment programs for adults with dementia and other impairments. The Program Activity Coordinator position is an essential role for maintaining quality programs and the well-being of every member. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position works directly with all programs and associated activities, and actively engages in innovation and best practices.
Responsibilities Include:
Develop, implement, and refine programs and activities.
In collaboration with staff, prepare monthly activity calendar.
Oversee Music and Memory program.
Maintain and manage program supplies.
Ensure compliance of all IL Dept of Aging policies and procedures relevant to programs.
Prepare monthly program report to the Board.
Work in a team to provide a warm, caring environment.
Support adults with activities, exercise, and games.
Assist in developing monthly program calendar.
Interact with clients and be attentive to their needs.
Prepare morning or afternoon snacks to serve to clients.
Organize and prepare lunch for a variety of dietary needs.
Maintain clean and orderly rooms with light housekeeping.
Assist members with daily functions and life skills.
Participate in 12 hours of professional development annually.
Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Associate or certification in healthcare preferred.
1-2 years of experience working with geriatric population preferred.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and bend to facilitate activities and assist clients.
Must prove to be a US citizen or valid credentials to work in the US.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Ability to respond appropriately to a crisis situation.
Possess strong problem-solving skills.
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $11.50 to $13.00 /hour
