Technical Territory Sales Engineer Job Opening in South Bend, Indiana - SUMMARY
Assurance Technologies is looking for an outside sales engineer of metrology equipment in our northern Indiana territory. As a family owned company, this organization has grown from an 11 employee organization to over 30 current employees in 2016. As a result of this growth we are looking to expand volume through outside sales representatives in key manufacturing areas.
This role would be responsible for contacting customers daily, prospecting, and following up with all customer leads within their assigned territory. This role will be responsible for sales territories in Indiana, North of Indianapolis, East to Ft. Wayne and West to the Illinois border.
The role would be the exclusive sales representative in the territory and have access to over 30 distribution channels. This role would be responsible for traveling within the designated territory and reporting to the Bartlett, IL headquarters once a month.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Contacts customers within their territory through generated sales leads and through their own marketing, canvassing and networking.
Tracks sales leads within their territory and provides daily updates on leads, quotes, pipeline via the Salesforce platform.
Follows up with customers on a regular basis regarding pending orders and new possible sales.
Develops and acts upon marketing campaigns and canvassing programs for customers within their territory.
Reviews, evaluates and approves all sales quotations to the customers.
Reviews, evaluates and approves all purchase orders received from the customers.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following skills and attributes:
Self-starter ? Must be able to start and work independently with minimal input.
Finisher ? Must automatically define completion dates for sales projects and dates must be kept.
Proactive ? Must automatically notice and automatically handle situations in a proactive manner. In a Sales organization, a reactive response usually equates to a lost customer.
Learner ? Must learn from mistakes. The same problem must not happen twice.
Observant ? Must possess skills to take any problems that may occur and automatically define the cause and necessary corrective action.
Trainer - Must be able to provide basic training and demonstrate all equipment being represented or set up training through represented companies.
Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to deal with people well, define peoples? limitations and work effectively with difficult personalities.
Organizational Skills ? Must be able to organize yourself in all aspects of the position. Follow-ups, sales calls and inquiries cannot get lost or forgotten, records must be easily and quickly attainable and everything must be followed up on in a timely manner.
Prioritizing Skills ? Must be able to prioritize projects by level of importance and time to complete.
Hands On ? Must be willing and able to learn the functioning of each piece of equipment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associates or Bachelor?s degree in Marketing, Engineering or Business; or a minimum of two years? experience in Technical Sales, Metrology Equipment Sales, Machine Tool Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering or Quality, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicant must have experience with blueprints, and understand the basic concepts of measurement. Experience in manufacturing tooling, measurement equipment is highly regarded. Experience in the Medical Device industry and/or experience using Salesforce is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and analyze equipment specifications, customer specifications, purchase orders, sales reports and marketing plans. Ability to communicate technical and non-technical issues to people within companies represented by ATI and to ATI customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate profits, commissions and discounts. Ability to follow any normal math involved in customer applications.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of information to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

The duties of the job require extensive local travel and a minimal amount of long distant travel. Must have the ability to lift a 200lb machine out of a van on a wheeled gurney.

COMPENSATION
The current sales engineers carry a Draw + Commission compensation with Quarterly & Annual bonus opportunities. This will be negotiable, dependent on sales experience or experience in the metrology industry. Once up to speed, this position will have the opportunity to conduct software training and be compensated hourly for conducting the training. A finder?s fee program is also in place for passing along leads to other business units within the organization.
