Shipping Supervisor Job Opening in Sioux Center, Iowa - The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for coordinating all the day-to-day shipping requirements for our Company and will give budgetary oversight. This includes the completion of shipping paperwork and other system requirements, coordinating deliveries with vendors, and communication with customer service and production to insure that deliveries and service requirements are met.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, direction, training, and growth opportunities for assigned staff.
Oversee inventory and management of finished goods and Fulfilment, including deliveries to offsite locations.
Support the department?s daily needs which include prompt and accurate filing, labeling, packaging and shipping of orders.
Process all shipping paperwork accurately, providing it to Customer Service and/or Accounting on a daily basis as well as maintaining the shipping files.
Work closely with teams/departments to create an environment that supports workflow and continuous improvements of all operations.
Review daily work in progress and ensure that personnel have correct instructions and specifications. Monitor shipping activity with emphasis on timeliness, effectiveness and quality.
Supervisory Responsibilities, if applicable
Supervise shipping operations in accordance with the company?s policies and applicable laws.
Supervise training of new and current Shipping personnel as required.
Has authority either directly or through recommendations for employment decisions to include selection, training, performance evaluation, counseling, promotion and termination.
Participates in or conducts regular staff meetings to communicate pertinent corporate and program information.
Fosters a positive work environment and leads by example.
Ensures staff complies with all safety requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must possess thorough knowledge of all shipping procedures.
Must possess good computer skills including ability to learn new computer systems (i.e. UPS software).
Able to understand and help further enhance current business systems, processes, and work-flows.
Establish, document and communicate clear performance expectations and standards.
Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship building skills.
Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing to all levels of people inside and outside the organization.
Detail-oriented, organized and applies effective time management skills in order to meet all deadlines. Able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks and numerous projects in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
High School degree or equivalent and 3+ years of related experience.
Ability to become forklift certified is required.
Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing and ISO quality systems preferred.
Perform heavy work, lifting up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting/carrying of objects.
