On Call Class B Drivers Job Opening in santa maria, California - On Call Class B Drivers Life Steps Foundation is a California -based 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization which provides home- and community-based services across the life span to children, teens, adults and the elderly. We serve people who have developmental and/or physical disabilities as well as those challenged by substance abuse, premature birth, child abuse/neglect, and social or economic deprivation. Licensed by the California Department of Aging, the Adult Day Health Care programs are site-based services that serve those who are developmentally disabled and aging and those who have a developmental disability. The programs provide a full range of therapeutic, recreational and social activities, and extensive case management and medical / nutritional monitoring. The goal is to preserve the participants' ability to remain in their own homes, living the lifestyle they choose. The Class B Driver will be responsible for transporting our participants to and from the Center. Our operations are Monday through Friday. We are currently recruiting for On-Call drivers with availability in the mornings and/or afternoons. Specific Duties: - Transport participant in a timely manner to and from the Center. Participants will be picked up according to the transportation schedule with specified pick-up and drop-off times - Complete daily maintenance checks on vehicles to ensure the safety of the driver and his or her passengers. - Document all transports on the transportation log. - The driver must carry the cellular telephone at all times while the vehicle is in service. The cell phone is to be used to either inform passengers of changes in their transportation schedule inform supervisor of problems and/or location and emergencies. - Upon completing the transportation schedules, the driver may be assigned to other tasks that will fill in the time between the morning and afternoon transport routes. Requirements: - One year experience transporting individuals who require para-transit services under (Class B license). Must be knowledgeable in wheelchair tie downs and all aspects for participant and highway safety. Must have a good driving record. Prefer experienced in working with frail elderly, developmentally disabled and individuals with Alzheimer's disease. - Recent health exam (within last three months). - TB clearance (chest x-ray or purified protein derivative test performed not more than 12 months prior to employment. - Current certification in CPR and first aid certification. - Valid California driver's license (Class B) and current automobile insurance. - Clean driving record (copy of current DMV record). - Initial clean drug test prior to LSF employment with annual random drug testing thereafter. - Comprehensive background clearance from Life Steps Foundation Human Resources Department.
