Director of Clinical Education Job Opening in Columbus, Nebraska - ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Work cooperatively with leadership in planning programs to meet training needs and regulatory requirements. Maintain written documentation of attendance at in-services. Evaluate in-service training to develop programs that maintain and enhance nursing associates clinical skills
Participates in nursing associates hiring process to include responsibilities for recruitment, interviewing, and selection of these positions in collaboration with the appropriate Charge Nurse and Director of Nursing
Ensures the validity of all nursing associate licenses through state board of nursing during prehire and as needed. Ensures the validity of certificates and their good standing for all CNAs hired. Contacts all state nurse aide registries in which associate has worked
Maintains files of lesson plans for all programs taught to facility associates and ensures training records are retained per company retention policies. Communicates availability of learning opportunities whether on-site and online
Coordinates general orientation for all new associates beginning the first day of employment; updates general orientation as necessary,utilizing corporate orientation guidelines
Ensures completion of Orientation Skills Return Demonstration Checklist on all new nursing associates, validating that new associates are competent to perform all resident care tasks they will be assigned prior to providing direct resident care. Provides skill training to any nursing associates that are deficient in any skill area on Orientation Skills Checklist, before allowing the nursing associate to perform the task with a resident
Implements education for new Clinical Services initiatives from Clinical Services
Notify nursing associates regarding any updates or new requirements as needed from: NACS (Nurse Assistant Certification Section) or the State Board of Nursing for licensed associates
Develop positive relationship with government regulators, families, area healthcare community, school of nursing and other allied health programs, and the community at large on behalf of the facility
Member of facility QA&A committee. Responsible for reporting to QA&A committee for Infection Control section as Team Leader of Infection Control Committee. Responsible for identifying training needs that are identified during QA&A committee
. * Participates as a member of Safety Committee to identify training needs of staff if required by the facility
Participates in Nursing Start Up and Administrative Stand Up Meetings
QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed RN in good standing and currently licensed by the State in which employed; May be LPN or LVN working towards RN license to be obtained by December 2012
Minimum one (1) year full-time experience as a licensed nurse providing direct resident care in a long term healthcare
Minimum one (1) year experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in the field of nursing. May substitute two (2) years full time experience as a licensed nurse, at least one year of which must be in the provision of direct resident care in a nursing facility. If substituting nursing experience, employee must obtain a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education in nursing courses in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing, or as established by specific state requirements within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS
Basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company software
Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information
Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and other employees at all levels
