Assistant Cashier Job Opening in Webster City, Iowa - BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, assists in managing the day to day activities of the bank general ledger accounting system, internal management information and external reporting.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Participate in a team environment providing prompt, courteous and excellent service to internal and external customers at all time. This includes an obligation an obligation to actively cooperate and interact with other departments and facilities to advance the overall interests of First State Bank.
Responsible for Accounts Payable, prepaid expenses and accruals.
Prepare various management and regulatory required reports including: FR2900, Quarterly report of deposits and vault cash, FR 2644 weekly balance sheet items, Board Reports and other reports as requested.
Establish and maintain new and existing general ledger accounts to meet the reporting requirement of various regulatory authorities and to provide Bank profit centers with adequate operating and financial data.
Stay abreast of an participate in decisions regarding accounting, tax, and auditing developments applicable to financial institutions in general and First State Bank specifically.
Generate reports requested by auditors, regulators and tax preparers, which may include coordinating personal in different departments to obtain requested information.
Assist in payroll processing and accounting for payroll and employee benefits.
Responsible for recurring accounting functions, such as: bond accounting, prepaid and accrued expenses, and sales/use tax remittance.
Work with accounting staff at insurance agency to properly remit and account for shared expenses, and to record insurance agency financial information monthly in bank's general ledger.
Maintain depreciation schedule for bank and insurance agency assets.
Prepare monthly tax accrual and net interest rate margin calculation.
Schedule work hours for tellers.
Knowledge, Skills and abilities required to perform job:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four year college or university preferred; but in place of will consider one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or member of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or Board of Directors.
Good verbal communications skills as evidenced by ability to interact both face to face and over the telephone with examiners, consultants, auditors, customers and co- workers. Demonstrated ability to use tact, diplomacy, and a professional personal appearance, when dealing with same.
Good math skills. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent also the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.
Analytical, organizational, time-management and problem solving ability.
