The Investment Advisors Corporation (IAC) Relationship Manager (RM) relates to the firm?s Investment Advisor Representatives (IARs), assists IAC?s Executives on the firm?s advisory program matters, and coordinates with the Firm?s department managers as needed. Duties include advisory program business development, setting the proper tone and guidance for prudent investment management, maintaining and improving IAC?s portfolio management and performance reporting capabilities, and assisting compliance with monitoring risks associated with IAR?s investment strategies, and high risk securities owned by clients of IAC. The RM will host periodic training sessions and recruiting sessions for Advisory Representatives and prospective Representatives. The RM will assist firm?s departments to prevent and resolve problems. The Relationship Manager will seek new avenues to obtain advisory business for IAC through new channels and referral sources. The RM will provide periodic reports to executives and the Oversight Committee. The Relationship Manager will create and assist with advancing technology tools to modernize and improve client and advisor reports, management reporting, and portfolio supervision tools. The RM assists the Firm?s compliance department with projects, regulatory reports and audits, and annual testing of policies and procedures.
The RM has an obligation to actively participate in the formulation of corporate strategy, exchange ideas and offer competing views in arriving at the corporation?s plans and goals. The Relationship Manager bears the shared ultimate responsibility for the success and future of the corporation. Once IACs? corporate goals and objectives are decided, the RM is obligated to support the direction set by senior management and the RM is in active collaboration with other members of the IAC staff to accomplish the firm?s planned results.
The RM is responsible for collaborating with other departments and individuals to attain expected results within that functional area in furtherance of the corporation?s plans.
Leadership in the RM position means s/he possesses the requisite skills to enable her/him to recognize when issues, concerns, complaints, disagreements regarding corporate direction, allocation of resources and (or lack thereof) occur that they are resolved between BDFS/IAC employees or within BDFS/IAC and not in the presence of other, uninvolved employees, vendors, and/or outside parties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for initial preparation and coordinating with BDFS/IAC executive management for the execution and tracking of a business plan for ethical growth of Investment Advisors Corporation.
Responsible for providing on-going training to IARs on Representative managed advisory programs using 3rd party managers, and selling financial planning services. Duties include training IARs on the sales process and client service for each.
Develop and grow advisory programs and services to improve IAC?s profitability through training, assisting, recruiting, new advisors, and networking at financial industry events.
Monitor and refine as necessary, IAC?s asset class definitions, investments schema, categorization of each security, risk tolerances and the acceptable volatility measures for each investment objectives, and index benchmarks used to monitor performance of investment strategies. Report suggested changes to the Oversight Committee.
Provide surveillance through monthly and quarterly reports of IAR managed investment strategies, model portfolios, underlying securities, asset allocations of accounts, account performance based in investment objective, and other reports as needed. Summaries of these reviews are to be provided to the Oversight Committee.
Ensure daily reconciliation and on-going improvements are made to the Firm?s Portfolio Management and Performance Reporting system.
Manage administration rights and roles with custodians and 3rd party websites and assist with the paperwork required for on-boarding of Advisors to do business with custodians and 3rd party managers or removing when Advisors leave the Firm.
Coordinate and assist with projects and tasks between compliance, accounting, operations, advisor offices, and custodians.
Qualification Requirements: Ability to be flexible, prioritize, good personal interaction skills, work under pressure, and meet deadlines. Candidate must be able to maintain high levels of confidentiality to protect firm and client account information. Candidate needs to be proficient with all Microsoft Office products.
Experience: Candidate with a minimum 8 years previous brokerage/financial experience or investment advisor experience preferred. A CFA Charter holder, MBA, or equivalent experience is helpful. Candidates must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and needs strong written and verbal skills.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Job classification generally requires registration as a General Principal, S24 with the Series 7, and Series 65 or 66. Candidates may be eligible with just a Series 7 and 65 or 66, provided they are willing to pass the S24 within 12 months of hire.
