Staff Accountant Job Opening in Herndon, Virginia - SemanticBits is seeking a Staff Accountant with at least five (5) years of experience. This role is responsible for Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Expense Reports and other Accounting duties as assigned.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Maintaining records of financial transactions
Entering data into journals/ledgers
Recording, classifying, and summarizing accounting transactions
Selecting correct accounts; posting, verifying, and balancing debit and credit entries
Reconciling accounts and assisting in the compilation of reports
Applying a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
Preparing invoices on a monthly basis
Checking accounting transactions to locate and resolve discrepancies
Ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
Ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met
Preparing financial management reports
Ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
Establishing and monitoring the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
Track/maintain accounting balances for each project
Assisting in time tracking and running payroll
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a business or finance degree plus a minimum of five (5) years of directly related government contractor accounting experience
Quickbooks experience required
Must have Excellent MS Excel skills
