Operating Room RN Job Opening in Boise, Idaho - Treasure Valley Hospital is a 10-bed, Joint Commission accredited surgical facility located in Boise, Idaho, which was named as the #1 Hospital in the Nation in 2012 by CMS for patient satisfaction. We are looking for a qualified operating room registered nurse to join our dedicated team. This is a full-time position, day shift, 10-hour shifts (6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) .
License or Certification: Current Idaho RN license required. BLS and ACLS certification required. PALS certification preferred.
Total Education, Vocational Training, and Experience: Graduate of accredited nursing school required. THREE YEARS DEMONSTRATED ORTHO, NEURO, AND MULTI-DISCIPLINARY OPERATING ROOM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED unless you have proof of completion of Periop 101 through AORN with one year of OR experience.
Interpersonal Relations: Interaction with patients, family members, physicians, referral sources, affiliating schools, visitors, guests, etc., must be in a manner that is friendly, positive, supportive, respectful, courteous, cooperative, and professional. This behavior must promote an atmosphere of teamwork which is consistent with hospital standards and guidelines to ensure a caring healthcare experience.
Skills and Abilities:
Must have the ability to organize and handle details with ease
Registered nurse must be able to communicate effectively with hospital personnel and clients
Works with minimal physician supervision
Registered nurse organizes work, sets priorities, meets tight deadlines, and works under stress
Possesses flexibility, analytical skills, manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude, familiarity with medical terminology, reasoning ability, good independent judgment, detail mindedness, and people orientation.
Demonstrates continued competence in caring for individuals based on age-specific needs.
Physical Tasks:
Moderate to extremely heavy physical effort (lift/carry over 50 lbs.); lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients.
Occasional to frequent extensive or prolonged standing/walking.
Occasional to considerable reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Registered nurse must have the ability to enunciate English clearly and use proper grammar.
Environmental Conditions:
Registered nurse handles emergency or crisis situations and may perform emergency care.
Hazards include possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases; exposure to hazards of diseased organs or tissues; regular exposure to the risks of bloodborne disease; exposure to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, and wastes; contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances; exposure to hazards of electrical, mechanical, and power equipment; subject to injury from moving parts of equipment; may be exposed to biohazardous or toxic substances; exposure to odorous substances; exposure to explosive or flammable chemicals and gases; subject to burns and cuts; subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
Machines and Equipment Used: Perioperative equipment, hand and power tools, instrument processing equipment, protective equipment, computer, telephone, headset, time clock.
