Mid to Sr. Level Development Position:
Assume a Development role with broad applications development and systems support responsibilities for a top-100 alternative investment / hedge fund headquartered in Minneapolis.
Technological environment is comprised of both 3rd party and proprietary applications addressing the following areas of functionality: Contact Management, Portfolio/Deal Management, and Management Accounting, Cash Management and Datawarehouse.
Keep pace with information technologies in support of investment and business professionals in a growing, rapidly evolving, and often opportunistic business.
Reports to the Head of Development.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Proprietary applications development ? including design, coding and testing using SDLC methodology
Work with business partners to investigate and evaluate current processes and understand new or changing requirements
Provide production support for existing applications and systems
3rd party application assessment and implementation
Design and develop interface (and data transformation) programs connecting disparate systems
Design and develop reports
Design and develop databases, tables, and stored procedures
Execute and complete unit testing on issues and projects prior to engaging business users for testing
Perform software maintenance and bug fixes
Develop, diagram, and document technical design and requirements
Collaborate with Development Team to establish best practices, quality standards, release management and knowledge sharing
Work with offshore and vendor partners in development and support efforts
Provide accurate and complete development estimates for software projects
Provide on-call off-hours support if necessary
Continually enhance skills and builds business knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems
Qualifications :
B.S. in Computer Science or MIS or demonstrable equivalent work experience required
Solid understanding and experience with implementation of software design principles (e.g. OOP, service oriented architecture)
4 to 7+ years experience with software design and development (including the Microsoft application development framework) preferably C#, , , MVC
7 years experience in Web Services (SOAP), Web API (REST)
4 to 7+ years experience in Visual Studio, and Entity Framework
4 to 7+ years experience in database design; writing stored procedures; programming in SQLServer 2008
5+ years of web application design concepts
3+ years with a report writer (e.g. SQL Server Reporting Services, Tableau)
Strong experience with the AngularJS framework
Proven background in enterprise application design and implementation with emphasis on QA
Strong experience with version control tools usage such as Visual SourceSafe and SubVersion
Strong experience in QA methodology, tool sets and developing testing strategy
Salesforce development experience (Apex, Visualforce, Lightning) desired
PeopleSoft and SharePoint experience a plus
System architecture experience a plus
Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting techniques and detail-oriented problem diagnosis
Demonstrated progressive growth of responsibilities and complexity of effort
Solid understanding of the investment management industry and processes including the straight-through trade lifecycle; front, middle, and back office functions. Direct experience in a hedge fund environment (and industry specific applications like Advent Geneva and Sungard Investran) is a plus
Must exhibit a high level of personal initiative, ownership and accountability
