Sensors & Integrated Systems (SIS), a business unit of Aerospace Systems, provides cutting-edge sensors and sensor-based systems for the commercial aerospace, ground vehicle and defense industries including electronic flight bags, air data systems, ice detection and protection systems, fire protection systems, fuel measurement and management systems, guidance navigation and control systems, health and usage management systems, rescue hoists, mission data recorders, and sensing suites for aircraft engines.
The Engineering Project Lead will lead cross-functional teams responsible for developing aircraft Air Data System products.
The Engineering Project Lead's activities and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:
Leading a cross-functional engineering team in the development and certification of aerospace products. The involved engineering functions are systems, systems test, electrical, mechanical, software, software verification, and MEMS disciplines.
Acting as Engineering focal for customer engagements which include, but are not limited to, periodic status telecons, design reviews, and program status reviews.
Establishing, maintaining, and driving execution to plan for the development and certification of aerospace products. Schedules are maintained in Microsoft Project Server and employ earned value management methodology.
Adhering to project cost goals by employing active scope and risk management through coordination with Program Office.
Capturing and reporting project status to Engineering Management and Program Office in support of monthly project and program reviews.
Interfacing with the engineering organization in support of product development activities.
Applicant must qualify for access to U.S. export-controlled technology without a license. Non-immigrant visas will not be sponsored for this position. Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident, or designated a refugee or asylee under U.S. law.
Education / Certifications
BS Degree in Engineering required along with the following:
Minimum 6 years of design engineering experience with 2+ years of project leadership.
10+ years of design engineering experience with 5+ years of project leadership in a product development environment preferred.
Experience leading cross-functional teams in regulated industry, e.g., aerospace, medical, preferred.
Experience / Qualifications
Experience with the following Engineering areas preferred: mechanical design & qualification, systems architecture, requirements management, embedded software development (up to RTCA/DO-178 Level A), electrical design & qualification, MEMS.
Demonstrated project leadership experience throughout product life cycle, i.e., Bid & Proposal through Entry into Service.
Applicant must be familiar with MS Project Server 2007/2010/2013 or similar project management tools and MS Office.
Experience with Earned Value Management.
Familiarity with aerospace industry development and certification processes preferred, including exposure to RTCA/DO-178, RTCA/DO-160, RTCA/DO-254, and SAE ARP4754.
