Site Technician in Austin, Texas Position Purpose Manages and maintains all infrastructure physical site assets such as building core and shell, floor space, cabling, fire protection systems, mechanical, electrical, lighting, raised floor, control room cubicles, console shelving and monitoring. Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities Provides installation and de-installation services for physical site infrastructure assets such as floor space, mechanical, electrical, ventilation, cabling, lighting, raised floor, control room cubicles, console shelving and mounting. Maintains physical site locations to provide clean operating environment free from litter, dust and pollutants. Maintain and test fire protection system. Monitors use of physical site premises power and utilities to identify upgrades or downgrades to accommodate changes in equipment capacity, local building codes, zoning, people or general physical infrastructure. Oversees changes by contract resources to physical site infrastructure to ensure existing services are not adversely impacted by physical site construction activities. Oversees repairs to physical site infrastructure components done by 3rd parties and validate that repairs meet expected benefits. Ensure proper labeling of equipment, cables and telecommunication lines is in place and adequately maintained. Nature and Scope Typically reports to Facilities Manager No associates report to this role Environmental Job Requirements Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes which cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness. Years of Relevant Work Experience - 3 - Physical Job Requirements - Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward. Additional Qualifications - Preferred Qualifications Bachelors Degree is preferred. Knowledge of LAN technology including fiber optics and Ethernet networking Knowledge of client server hardware and installation of that hardware. Knowledge of cooling and electrical systems to support installations. Electrical Journeyman's license/ HVAC certification. Knowledge of AutoCAD and physical planning of hardware layout/ placement, and basic computer operating skills. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Maintaining a high degree of technical competence and knowledge that involves the understanding of concepts and facilities utilized in support of the Data Center. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, both verbally and in writing. Ability to quickly analyze and resolve electrical and cooling problems as they occur. Ability to utilize operational experience and knowledge to effectively write methods, standards and procedures in a clear and concise manner to ensure ease of use.
