Controller Job Opening in Dallas, Texas - Controller
Established Plaintiffs? law firm is looking for a Controller. The Controller reports directly to the managing partner and is responsible for multiple companies? accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, budgeting and cash flow analysis. The Controller also develops and implements administrative and fiscal policies and procedures with the approval of the equity partners. The Controller is responsible for governmental compliance; ensuring all vendors and staff are paid; managing the cash flow of the firm; coordinating the employee benefit plans; supervising financial staff and reviewing tax reports.
Other Key Responsibilities:
Acts as a liaison between Accounting and other departments, including property management, asset management and capital management, as well as local, state and federal agencies as appropriate
Establishes full understanding of all partnership and management agreements, ensuring full compliance with all loan documentation and that financial statements accurately reflect the terms of such agreements
Generates accurate and timely, monthly and quarterly, financial reports including GL, balance sheets, income statements and management statements
Oversees and implements streamlined, cost-effective accounting procedures
Reviews effectiveness of accounting personnel, systems and effectiveness of accounting procedures
Hires, trains and manages all accounting personnel
Processes the payroll accounting and funding transactions in cooperation with third party payroll and benefits providers
Reviews and evaluates current and future cash requirements
Discusses cash management, performance management and related issues with senior management
The requirements of the position are: Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business (Master?s preferred); at least 10 plus years experience in accounting; CPA; strong familiarity with computer and accounting programs. Candidates for this position must demonstrate teamwork, honesty, integrity, respect and empowerment. Superior communication skills, organizational skills and ability to multi-task are necessary. Must be a self-starter. Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
