Jr. Applications Engineer Job Opening in Bridgewater, New jersey - The Jr. Applications Engineer/Solutions Specialist position is responsible for providing both internal and external customers, including subsidiaries with technical knowledge, consultation and expertise in support of Brother International's intermediate and advanced technologies. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: Ongoing consultation, support and education of our developer partners and system integrators, development of demonstrations and proofs of concept using Brother programmable technologies, development of custom ad-hoc solutions in support of the SST process for SMB {small to mid-sized businesses] and major account customers, demonstration and support of internal and external customers on advanced network and security features and analysis of competitive products.
This role will include:
Ongoing support and education of our developer partners and system integrators
Development of demonstrations and proofs of concept using Brother programmable technologies. This includes development and expansion of our Developer Program.
Create custom solutions by working with the B2B team to support developers and system integrators to create custom integrated solutions connecting our hardware and Brother proprietary technologies.
Technical analysis of competitive products as required by our B2B and B2C teams.
There are a variety of departmental special projects that this individual can assist with during the year.
Requirements
This position will require an intermediate level programmer with at least 3 years of experience.
3+ years in a cross platform language such as Python, Java or Ruby. Other languages, even if not cross platform, may be considered
Above average skills in troubleshooting software, network, printer/scanner issues
Wireshark experience preferred
Proficiency in at least one OS (Windows, Mac, Linux)
Proficient in SNMP, HTTP, TCP/IP sockets, SFTP, XML
General knowledge of Page Description Languages(PCL, Postscript, Esc/P)
Printer Job Language (PJL)
Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills a must.
Bachelor Degree or equivalent in technology or software engineering.
This job requires 25% travel to customer locations throughout the US.
This position will have extensive coaching, mentoring and training regarding our Brother products and solutions.
