Staff Accountant Job Opening in Boston, Massachusetts - If you have a strong understanding of core accounting principles, great Excel skills and strong attention to detail - then we want to hear from you! The Workers? Compensation Rating and Inspection Bureau of Massachusetts (WCRIBMA) is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its downtown Boston team.
Position Summary
Actively participates in the daily, monthly and annual accounting operations of the WCRIBMA. This includes completing multiple accounting tasks in a timely and accurate manner. The functions range from processing payments, collection of revenues, payroll processing and the invoicing members. Addition responsibilities include involvement in creating budgets and financial statements, the annual audit and the annual WCRIBMA tax returns.
Primary Functions
Processes all vendor invoices and check requests for payment. This includes verifying the invoices for accuracy and updating vendor information as required.
Collects and deposits all funds received and reconciles this information to the appropriate Account Receivable accounts.
Generates and posts general ledger transactions into the Accounting System on a regular basis that are reasonable, accurate and creditable. On a monthly basis, creates a monthly and year- to- date general ledger and trial balance.
Responsible for processing the bi-weekly payroll and the payment of all payroll taxes. Also processes bi-weekly 401k.
In conjunction with other Accounting Staff, assists in the preparation and reviews the WCRIBMA Quarterly Assessments so that they can be invoiced and issued to our members.
Additional Responsibilities
Actively involved in the preparation of the annual budget. Responsible for preparing and analyzing data for assigned accounts identified in the Budget. Works collaboratively with accounting staff to finalize annual budget document.
As part of the Fiscal Year Audit process, partners with the accounting staff to provide the independent auditors with all financial information and other documents that they request or need for them to conduct the audit in an efficient and effective manner.
On an as needed basis, generate and produce draft monthly internal financial statements with some detailed analysis, and present them to the senior accounting staff for review and comments.
Assists in the preparation and submission of various tax returns.
Qualifications:
Bachelor?s Degree required. Concentration in accounting/finance strongly preferred.
One to Three years of accounting experience required.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills necessary.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (with Excel skills). Experience with MS Dynamics/Great Plains or other accounting software preferred.
