Role Responsibilities:
Coordinates schedule with physician time, staffing, procedure complexity, patient age/needs and equipment availability
Obtain and accurately enter accurate patient demographic, insurance authorization and workup from physician offices at time of scheduling
Coordinates with anesthesia group to confirm scheduling for coverage
Works closely with Clinical Director to avoid equipment or supply conflicts
Market the center through daily outgoing calls and visits to physician offices to develop solid and long lasting relationships
Develop an ongoing communication plan with physician office schedulers to assess satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement
Review block utilization weekly and monthly to release block times not being used and actively backfill with other cases
Maximize efficiency within the surgery schedule by organizing cases
Communicates changes to schedule to appropriate staff
Work with Administrator and Business Office Manager to determine reimbursement when new procedures are scheduled
Validates physician credentials at time of case booking to ensure license, insurance DEA and privileges are current
Maintains copy of medical staff Delineation of Privileges to determine appropriateness of scheduled procedure
Qualifications:
High school diploma required. Associate?s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is preferred
2 or more years? experience in a medical office, hospital, outpatient surgery center or related field
Computer experience: Excel, Word, Medical Billing Software and Applications
Working knowledge of Medical Terminology
