Payroll Accountant Job Opening in Huntsville, Alabama - Payroll Clerk Responsibilities:
Process the organization?s payroll and compile payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records
Perform daily and weekly timesheet audits of Ceridian Dayforce electronic timesheets to verify:
o compliance with timekeeping policy
o accuracy of pay codes and project names
o payroll information
o approval of leave requests
o authorization of timesheets by employee and supervisor
Process employee status changes, process and analyze payroll and employee expenses, reconcile general ledger accounts, and create on-going month-end, quarterly, and year-end organization reports
Review Ceridian Dayforce reports to validate bi-weekly completion of timesheets and employee paid/unpaid hours
Assist Managers by monitoring timekeeping
Communicate with employees and supervisors regarding:
o Timesheet validation
o Requirements for corrections to hours or pay codes
o Updates to Work Authorizations
o Promptness of timesheet authorizations
o Timekeeping policies
Communicate with Director of Accounting regarding:
o Results of timesheet audits
o Status of timesheet reviews in preparation for bi-weekly payroll processing
o Full time employees that have recorded less than 80 hours on their timesheets
o Employee reimbursements to be paid through payroll
Participate in problem-solving and special projects within the Payroll Department
This position has growth potential
Employee Travel -Related Responsibilities:
Coordinate and implement all travel arrangements for CEO and
Review travel requests for proper coding and approvals
Book travel directly and through Concur software in conjunction with travel agent
Review travel associated invoices and statements and validate all charges
Review employee travel expense reports for compliance with Government and contract requirements noting exceptions to the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR)
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Experience with Service Contract Act Requirements
Experience with Government Contracting
Experience with Ceridian timekeeping software is desired
Excellent skills using MS Word, Excel, Access, and Internet Explorer
Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
HS Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of related experience performing payroll and accounting functions. Degree in Business Administration or Accounting is preferred
