Accounting Controller Job Opening in Mobile, Alabama - Growing marine transportation and ship yard business based in Mobile, AL is seeking an accounting Controller. Candidate will share accounting and finance responsibilities with the Chief Financial Officer. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate books and records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
The individual will prepare and analyze the strategic plan, capital plan, and prepare monthly reports for senior management
The individual will analyze job costing and make recommendations to improve operational efficiency
The individual must be able to recognize cost reduction opportunities through cost analysis along with educating co-workers on key cost drivers
The individual will work to identify and recommend solutions to business problems
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate degree with focus on accounting and/or finance
Five years of experience in a finance/accounting
The candidate should be familiar with accounting for depreciation and debt management for capital equipment
Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven ability to analyze financial statements and identify potential problems
Experience in the marine transportation industry and a masters degree in accounting preferred, but not required
