Staff Accountant Job Opening in Upland, California - The Staff Accountant is a full-time, confidential position and reports to the Controller. Responsibilities in this position include assisting in the day-to-day maintenance and management of the Agency?s accounting system, including payroll.
Essential Functions
Accounting
Maintain complete and accurate ledgers
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAP
Perform reconciliation of bank accounts and general ledger accounts
Code all activity for various programs administered by the agency
Enter credit card transactions and perform credit card reconciliation
Generate monthly transaction reports for invoicing
Process accounts receivable, collections, donations, and all other fund receipts
Prepares bank deposit tickets
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, annual financial billings/reports
Prepare ad hoc financial reports as may be required
Process accounts payable, reimbursements and other payments
Assist with cash management
Payroll
Review timekeeping entries for biweekly payroll processing
Process bi-weekly payroll
Process electronic payroll files for entry to general ledger
Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of all Agency funder & partner information, personnel/payroll information, and other information as deemed appropriate
Budgeting
Maintains budget schedules & assists with budget preparation
Prepares budget vs. actual statements monthly and as needed
Enters & maintains budgets in Quickbooks
Administrative
Respond to all vendor inquiries.
Respond to all inquiries from funders and donors.
May act as liaison with funder auditors and independent third party auditors to coordinate audit schedules and help auditors with fiscal audits.
Community Outreach
Provide support for agency programs and activities on an as needed
Professional Development
Attend required meetings and trainings.

Supervisory Requirements
The position reports directly to the Finance Manager and has no supervisory functions.
Educational Requirements
Preferred: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in accounting from a four-year college or university.
Experience
Required: 2-4 years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably in a non-profit environment.
Licenses and Certifications.
Valid California Driver?s License or I.D. is required
Maintain active auto insurance
Additional Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the following general knowledge
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Proficient in QuickBooks for Nonprofits.
Knowledge of GAAP.
Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
Must have good judgement, problem-solving skills, and strong communication skills.
Must pass drug testing and meet background check requirements through LiveScan.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand, and walk and use their hands to complete various tasks. The employee is occasionally required to react quickly with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is infrequently exposed to extreme outside weather conditions. The employee is infrequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. On occasion the employee could be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as found in an office environment.
