Sr. IT Project Manager (SDLC) Job Opening in Birmingham, Alabama - ITAC is assisting a well-established Birmingham organization in its search for a Sr. IT Project Manager to lead all coordination, status reporting and stability of company projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong experience in managing customer software development projects and teams as well as offshore development teams. Additional responsibilities are as follows:
Responsible for assembling project plans and work papers, monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, performing quality review and escalating functional, quality, and timeline issues appropriately
Responsible for tracking key project milestones and adjusting project plans when necessary to meet project objectives
Responsible for adherence to project and business governance standards and methodologies
Coordinates communication with all project team members and affected business units
Manages one or more cross-functional projects
Ensure projects are delivered on time and according to specifications
Responsible for informing manager when tasks fall behind schedule
Use standard coding techniques to ensure application performance meets requirements
Encouraged to suggest performance improvement changes
May be involved in project meetings with user representatives
Responsible for keeping user team members informed of project status
Extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices and change management techniques
Experience with structured application development and change control methodologies
Experience with object oriented analysis and design
Good knowledge of database design, programming languages and coding techniques
Good understanding of IT organization?s capabilities
Coaches and mentors more junior technical staff
Responsible for following policies and procedures, software development guidelines, user interface standards and change control processes
Encouraged to inform manager of any cost savings opportunities
Encouraged to work with managers to gain a better understanding of company business strategies
Required to work as part of a team for most projects
Responsible for ensuring a good understanding of deliverables (get confirmation from manager)
Requirements:
BS in computer science, information systems or related field, or equivalent work experience
7-10 years IT work experience in software development and/or system design
3-5 years managing 3rd party and off shore development teams
Proficient in requirements elicitation process
Proficient in Waterfall and Agile methodologies
Proficient in MS Project, TeamForge, and other utilities for monitoring and controlling product delivery
Results oriented and detail focused
Proven track record of establishing rapport with lines of business from project initiation through successful product delivery

Salary: $120,000.00 to $140,000.00 /year
