Corporate Controller Job Opening in Chicago, Illinois - Midwest Property Group, Ltd. is a property development and management firm specializing in commercial properties. We are headquartered in the near north side of Chicago, IL. Our in-house capabilities include site selection and demographic research, zoning, land planning and acquisition, financing, construction supervision, property management and leasing coordination. We?ve expanded our business by building quality projects, in a timely fashion while still being mindful of budget costs for a host of national tenants throughout the Midwest. This coupled with a high level of attention to the upkeep and management of these projects has enabled Midwest Property Group, Ltd to build multiple locations for several national chains. Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a Corporate Controller.
Position Summary
Reporting to the President, the Corporate Controller is responsible for general accounting activities including month/year end close, account reconciliation, cash management, credit/collections, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reporting, , strategy, modeling, compliance, audits and tax in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Corporate Controller oversees all accounting and finance functions while ensuring a robust control environment to support financial accuracy. Additional responsibilities include training/developing administrative staff and functioning as a strategic partner.
Job Responsibilities
Make recommendations for optimizing cash flow, streamlining operations and enhancing overall profitability.
Ensure all receivable, payable, payroll, accounting and financing requirements are met and in compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
Timely issuance of tenant invoices and collection of receivables.
Perform month/year end activities and account reconciliations ? including intercompany.
Provide financial reports utilizing generally accepted accounting principles and fulfill audit, tax and governmental requirements.
Institute process for key properties.
Identify and act on savings opportunities and document results.
Maximize the use of current/future ERP systems.
Supervise and mentor administrative staff.
Requirements
Thorough knowledge of all Accounting & Finance functions.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Solid problem solving skills requiring minimal supervision.
Must be a team player and have the ability to work in a changing, unstructured environment.
Self-starter with the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
Independent thinker with proven ability to drive results and initiate world-class processes.
Ability to train personnel and write procedures as needed.

Bachelor?s degree and/or equivalent experience. Accounting or other financial degree courses desired.
MBA and/or CPA a plus
5-7 years in an Accounting/Finance role
Corporate Controller and Management experience required.
Property Management experience preferred.
